Twenty years ago, Europe pioneered Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for packaging. Packaged goods companies, suppliers, public authorities, recyclers, consumers and the waste management industry learned to work together. Interest in optimising the life cycle of packaging quickly surged. Twenty years later, the idea of EPR is spreading to North America and Asia.
